How do you find the cheapest Hawaii vacation?

you do A LOT of your own research!!!! That's at least half the fun of going on vacation on the cheap!!!! We did Oahu- 4 people for 10 days- for $1640. We got our airfare with frequent flier miles, a 2 bedroom full kitchen hotel room, a rental car, all our food, admissions (did mostly free things though) and even souvenirs for that amount!!! Now THAT'S cheap! Our hotel was a block and a half off of Waikiki Beach and we had a beach view from the balcony! We bought food to make breakfast each morning and frequently packed lunch to take for the day since we had a kitchen. We hiked up Diamond Head (free), went to many of the beaches all around the island (free), visited the Byodo-In Temple ($8 per car), went to the Pearl Harbor Memorial (free), went to the Dole Plantation (didn't do the tour, just ate Dole Whips, about $4 a piece), walked around Chinatown (free), hiked to the lighthouse (free). We ate at cheap places- there are a few places that advertise $6 steak and 2 sides plates that are decent. We ate Chinese at the international Market Food Court, and we ate lots of fast food! We treated ourselves to lunch at Giovanni's Shrimp Truck (Google it for location)- about $12 for a plate of 12 big shrimp and 2 scoops of rice- but worth it! Our rental was a compact and our souvenirs came from the International Market where you can find tons of great cheap stuff!!!! have a blast!!!
My friend did a lot of research on this. He said AAA and Hotwire have really good prices.
