Is it better to get a travel agent, or book everything myself? Are travel agents really cheaper, or can I get just as cheap of deals on my own?
Also which Island is best to stay at. Any advice for resorts or hotels?
You can get a good rate at the military hotel at Waikiki, the Hale Koa Hotel. I’ve noticed that it’s better to book the airfare separately from hotel these days–better rates. If you stay in Waikiki ou would only need a car for a day or two. If you really want to get away, Kauai would be the most laid-back island and there are several resorts at Poipu Beach.

I am in search for a great deal to Honolulu, HI leaving the 15th of February for a destination wedding. I have been researching and in constant follow-up of a travel bargain. I have never been to Hawaii, so is $351 +tax (~$389) the best I could do for this time of year, or should I wait just a bit longer for the price to go down a little further?
The flight would be a round-trip flight to/from Los Angeles (LAX)
I have no idea where you’re leaving from or how far you’re flying, but that does sound like a good price. Is it one way or round trip?
We are on a budget and Hawaii may cost too much. What other places are as beautiful and tropical? Bahamas? I have no idea. Also wondering if anyone can suggest how to find good deals when traveling or who to go through. Thanks!
Hawaii is pretty expensive because nothing there is all-inclusive. Bahamas has more families and kids. You should look into all inclusive resorts in Jamaica. My parents stay at ‘Swept Away’ in Negril, Jamaica every fall and they sent my brother there for his wedding/honeymoon. It’s absolutely gorgeous, the white sandy beaches and palm trees and basically the same as Hawaii but cheaper since everything is included. Not just food and drinks but also stuff like golf and snorkeling. You can walk into any AAA office and ask for a travel agent, my mother is a travel agent for AAA and she’s been doing it for 25 years.

I need to know how to get the best deals and when on airline travel? I’m trying to go to Hawaii March 15-19 ish and I REALLY don’t want to pay over 700 dollars. Is this possible?

I would check out JetBlue to get to the West Coast. They are flying for under $100 sometimes.
I generally use Priceline.com. Kayak is very popular too.

There is a wilderness program called pacific quest located in hilo hawaii. I would like to know where the kids travel too. If someone lives in the area they perhaps seen kids traveling in groups in a forest. They live on an organic farm during there stay. I know where there offices are, but not where they travel and hike about. This would help a great deal.
Pacific Quest students, ages 14-17, live and work in a base camp setting nestled in an 8 acre organic farm on the Big Island of Hawaii. Once they achieve personal goals pertaining to their beliefs and strengths, they expand their contact beyond the staff and professionals and family to interact with the community of Ka’u, Hawaii. Ka’u is a large, rural area which, until 1996, was dominated by sugar cane farming. The students meet craftsmen and artists, perform community projects and participate in cultural ceremonies.

Should I use a travel agency for my honeymoon?

I am planning a honeymoon for next year. I want to go to Hawaii and I have found some decent deals on Expedia. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the benefits of going through a travel agency as opposed to booking on the internet.
Thanks. I’ve been to Hawaii before, but I didn’t know whether I would save money book through a travel agent, or sticking with purchasing it on Expedia, Priceline, etc.
You won’t save any money booking through Expedia or Priceline. Your honeymoon is very important. You don’t want it spoiled by a bad flight. Choose the airline that has the less demanding flight (preferably nonstop) from your home airport. Book the flight online from that airline’s website. It will be the same price as booking through a travel agency or a so called discount site. If you are not members of that airlines frequent flier club, join. You will earn bonus miles and flight miles on your trip. Book the best seats available and check your account daily to change your seats as better ones become available. Have a great time!

I would suggest that you try to bundle the trip and buy airfare, hotel and car rental. You can really save some money. I did that when my wife and I went to Kauai on our honeymoon. If you buy the plane tickets separately, you can try the different travel websites including http://www.kayak.com.
I am looking for the best deal on airfare from Tucson(TUS) to Kona(KOA) around Christmas time. I don’t mind flying out of Phoenix, since it is usually cheaper. Right now there are tickets for ~$585 from PHX to KOA. Bing Travel tells me to wait because the prices are supposed to come down. How much should I trust it? What’s the lowest price I should expect/settle for?
I got on us airways for $800 and $1000 on united.
