Me and wife truly need a vacation. She has been hospitalized in and out for the last few months. She has been having complications with her congestive heart failure and is only 32. She is doing much better now and I want to show her a good time. Please let me know the best website or company that I can get a good deal on a Hawaii vacation package.

I am a travel agent and while I do recommend using one for many reasons I understand that you should look around and make that decision for yourself.

I’ll be staying with a friend, and I’ll be there for a week. I remember when others I know have gone on cruises and tropical vacations, there was SO MUCH STUFF they had to bring. I have a month to get ready. What do I need to bring with me?

It is lovely in HI this time of year so dont worry about warm clothes. Maybe one pair of long pants & a lite jacket are all you’ll need
Shorts/nicer short pants
t-shirt/tank-top maybe 1 nice top if you’re going out
swim suit – swim cover up
hat (trust me on this one, bring a hat to keep the sun off)
sunscreen, sunglasses
good walking shoes if you’re touring around
camera
you can buy flip-flops (slippers) cheaply when you get there – you can also get t-shirts & paraeo (swim coverup) cheaply when you get there – a hat too if you want – so there is not terribly much to pack. Nice that you’re staying with a friend who probably has a lot of the basics already (sunscreen, bandaids, aloe)

learn to surf
snorkeling with sea turtles & tons of fish
take a whale watching cruise (winter months)
learn how to eat poi at a luau (learn how to hula too)
Visit Pearl Harbor – the Dole Plantation – Valley of Temples
View the world’s best surfing on the North Shore
Hike Diamond Head Crater – hike to one of many beautiful waterfalls
buy fresh pineapples to ship home – or a great new pareo
hang out on Waikiki Beach – maybe take a catamaran tour or ride on an outrigger canoe
There is nightlife and dining for every taste! Plate Lunch and shave ice are especially good!

I believe most airlines have package discounts and work with a lot of hotel/resorts in the areas. I went last May and had also researched renting vacation condos – these are a good deal especially in the off-seasons (Spring and Fall). We ended up staying at a timeshare resort (called the resort directly) and was given a great rate because they want to get you interested in buying at their property.
I’m going to Vegas for the first time with my boyfriend soon and not only do I not know what to wear, but I don’t know if I should buy it here in Hawaii or wait til I get to Vegas. I’ve had mixed answers from people in Hawaii. Some saying Vegas is cheaper while others saying the opposite. Any answers from people with more experience?
Vegas is way cheaper but don’t buy in the hotel malls. You can go over to the Fashion Show Mall and there’s oodles of shops and good prices too. FYI the Fashion Show Mall is across Spring Mt from the TI.
Stores include Nordstroms, Macy’s, Neiman Marcus, Dillards, Bebe, Express, Hot Topic, J. Crew, the Limited and lots and lots of others all price ranges.
We do have a sales tax of 8.10% so factor that in.

This is a beautiful reef that is home to a vast array of marine life and great for snorkeling. During winter, the waves reach soaring heights of forty to fifty feet, and the reef is submerged.Turtles are also frequently sighted in the cove. Sharks Cove can be found on the North Shore in Oahu.
