Should I use a travel agency for my honeymoon?
I am planning a honeymoon for next year. I want to go to Hawaii and I have found some decent deals on Expedia. I was wondering if anyone could tell me the benefits of going through a travel agency as opposed to booking on the internet.
Thanks. I’ve been to Hawaii before, but I didn’t know whether I would save money book through a travel agent, or sticking with purchasing it on Expedia, Priceline, etc.
You won’t save any money booking through Expedia or Priceline. Your honeymoon is very important. You don’t want it spoiled by a bad flight. Choose the airline that has the less demanding flight (preferably nonstop) from your home airport. Book the flight online from that airline’s website. It will be the same price as booking through a travel agency or a so called discount site. If you are not members of that airlines frequent flier club, join. You will earn bonus miles and flight miles on your trip. Book the best seats available and check your account daily to change your seats as better ones become available. Have a great time!

For Hawaii you could probably do it yourself. There are alot of hotels there and you are not leaving the country, so no snafus with language & customs. However, agents are good at making sure you have a good experience, get into a good or great hotel (since you are "cold booking" unless it is a 4 star resort); know some of the best tips. But, again, Hawaii is pretty easy. Pick up a good travel guide and read up on it. I have been there many many times and really have never had a problem; but do read up on your options. Again, what islands you are visiting is important as well & what do you want to spend.

It couldn’t hurt to inquire with an agency. Sometimes they have better rates than the travel sites. We went to Aruba this past winter and all of the sites had the same rates, but the travel agent saved us $800!
