How close do you have to be to Hawaii in order for the climate to be considered tropical?

If you where half way between Hawaii and California, would the climate mostly be tropical or still cold?

You have to be south of the tropic of caner and north of the tropic of capricorn. You would have to be pretty close because Hawaii is not too far south of the tropic of capricorn or you could just be parallel to it. Accroding to the Köppen climate classification, you just have to be anywhere the mean temperature for each month doesn’t fall below 18C/64Fon average in order for somewhere to be considered tropical.

  1. Kes Says:

Tropical weather can be expected between the tropic of cancer and capricorn. The Hawaiian Islands are located below the tropic of cancer and california is located above it. Half way between would likely not have continuous tropical weather.
