Is Diamond Head in Hawaii fit for the disabled and elderly?
My parents and I planning a trip to Hawaii this spring. I’ve heard that Diamond Head is a great place to go for great views. I’ve read some things about hikes and narrow passages. My parents are older and they can’t take heavy hikes or lots of stairs. Is this a place we should plan on bypassing?
The climb to the top of the summit is over 760 feet high and can be very challenging for the elderly or disabled individuals. There are also over 170 steps that your parents will be required to climb. yeah, it’s a big diamond head, maybe like 43 karats, enjoy the sparkling diamond when you get there. but you can’t steal it, because there are many security

I’m sorry but Diamond Head is just not accessible, there are a lot of stairs (99+) and the passages are narrow, so Diamond Head simply won’t work
BUT – try the Pali lookout – you drive right up to the parking lot and it is only a few steps to the lookout. From there you can see a panoramic views of Honolulu, Diamond Head, KoKo Head, the wide Pacific Ocean and more – its windy so hold onto your hat =)
