wheres the cheapest vacation package to Hawaii?
or even somewhere cheap to go on a family vacation in the midwest

www.expedia.com rocks.,

I am travelling alone and would like to get a vacation package from DC to any island. Any ideas?

This may be more info than you wanted but it's still good to know your options.

If you're not real choosy about what you want to do in Hawaii, anyplace will do. You can find a good beach almost anywhere as well as decent food, and entertainment. So go for it! Some of my best trips to Hawaii were last minute drop in's. Wherever I ended up, I'd rent a car and just drive around stopping wherever. Those who must plan everything miss out on the real Hawaii and adventure.

Try Travelzoo, the Away Network, and Orbitz. I have seen nice last minute condos available for $100 a week. Airfare for $300 round trip; I used to get these and then upgrade to first class for $60-$200 two hours before the flight.

If you are a risk taker you could just get the cheapest flight without hotel reservations. I would do that and then show up at the hotel to see if there were any vacancies, then make an offer. If a room is not booked by 6pm they most likely will not sell the room, so your $60 a night offer is better than leaving the room unsold. Works great on timeshare condos also. Sometimes you really have to sell the idea. The most I've ever paid for hotel in Hawaii is $65 a night at a nice timeshare, the cheapest is $25 a night at the Shower Tree by the Honolulu airport (it is the cheapest and most tourist would never stay there, it's more like a hostel). Most interesting was $40 for penthouse suite at an Outrigger in Waikiki. The other cheap option is to camp, to do this check out possible camp sites before you go. I have stayed in many camp sites and beaches without any problems. There are also a few backpacker houses where you can stay almost free, they have more of a surfer attitude.

If you don't rent a car, at least on Oahu, the city bus goes everywhere so you can still see everything. If you talk with the locals and don't act like a "stupid" tourist you can get some good info, free food, new friends, and possibly housing. I have walked all of Oahu and Maui staying on the beach or camping, but I get along well with locals and adventure.

My next trip I will take my kids along and we expect to pay about $800 a person for everything (includes airfare), but this time it will be with all the extras and planned in advance which is why we will pay much more than my usual $400.

If you are not a risk taker, try a package deal from the above web sites I listed. You can get a great deal if you are ready to go at the last minute. You can have a great trip without spending much money anywhere in Hawaii.

Make it fun…

me and my wife want to go to hawaii for spring break can anyone suggest to me some good packages flying out of, mco, dab, or rno ooxoxxooxox

Hi there,
I've been to Oahu 3 times and I have to tell you that I LOVE it!! I haven't been to the other islands, but I hope to make it to Maui and Kauai this year.

Anyway here's my suggestion:
Find the island that you want to go to (Oahu is the most popular and its also the most developed).
Afterwards, search like a maniac on all of the most popular travel sites (orbitz, travelocity, expedia, etc)…do so at odd times of the day (less traffic means more savings for you).
Use sites like tripadvisor to narrow your hotel choices – real life testimonials will prove useful. If you choose Oahu, I suggest not to splurge on a fancy hotel, its not worth it -you're probably not going to utilize it enough.

Lastly, I would like to offer these two sites that I personally use myself. SharingHawaii.com has a ton of honest info on Oahu that I'm sure you'll find useful. The second one has hotel offers at great prices.
I hope you enjoy yourselves & Aloha!

I want to plan a 2 week vacation to Hawaii.

A few years ago I booked a hotel and flight vacation from suntrips for $600 total per person for a 7 night stay at waikiki. The hotel was only 2 blocks away from the beach.

And 2 years ago I did the same but the price was $880 for the same deal. But now the company I went through has gone out of business.

The company I refer to is SUNTRIPS. I Can't seem to match their prices or deals anywhere. Just in airfare I am spending $550 per person and finding a cheap hotel has been a nightmare. The same hotel right now when i tried to book tried charging me $170 per night.

What I am wondering is how the heck did SUNTRIPS pull it off to offer such great deals and how can i find another company like that?

Any ideas???

Hi Oscar, I am guessing that since you paid 550 for airfare alone then you are traveling from Bos/Nwk or JFK or some place similar. I love to use expedia.com when checking for package deals and I just plugged in a 7 day trip on Jan 7-14 and came back with 838/pp at the Hawaiian Monarch. I am never too picky where I stay cause I only rest my head there, but here are some of the details, this also includes airfare from boston!

http://www.myresorts360.com/moneymax I own a Timeshare in Branson, MO. In addition to the cost of my deed, I pay about $68.00/month for maintenance fees. That is over $800/year plus what I paid for the Condo to use 1 week per year. I started looking on the net for a better travel deal and I ran across Global Resorts Network and really wanted to sign up for it, as it was a great travel bargain, but I couldnt bring myself to pay the $2995 fee. That was about a year ago, but I never forgot it …

Where can I find a cheap vacations packages to hawaii for my honeymoon =)

and which island of hawaii is nice?…

We can’t send a lot but we would like to have a nice honeymoon…

Thanks!!

Each island is unique from the other and it depends on your preferences on which one you should visit;

Hawaii is rocky with little to no sandy beaches but if your into the volcano its the place to go you can go to this spot where you can watch the lava flowing into the ocean.

Maui is good for tourists and it developed theres malls beaches etc. and the locals dont live next to the tourists so theres no conflict.

Kauai is the oldest island with the best beaches but the locals live right there next to the hotels and they are resentful and the druggies break into tourists hotels at night and steal money for drugs ( Im not kidding i used to live there)

Oahu is like Southern California with freeways and skyscrapers.

Lanai, Molokai are small like kauai and aren’t as popular as the others.

Aloha

I've been checking on prices and they're like $750 to $1500. Iwould like to find out other competitive prices out there. My sister just went to Hawaii and she spent $500 for a 5 day package. Just looking to see if there are others like that. I asked her where she got it, she said her friend booked it for her and she already went back to russia. So, no luck for me.

Just like everyone I dont make a lot of money and would like to travel for cheap and still have a great time. I do know some people there but not that close to them.

Thanks for all your help
